Welcome to likeitis!
The likeitis website is designed to educate teens on sexual health issues and reduce the rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
Teenagers have a number of misconceptions about the basics of contraception, as well as a lack of understanding about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
likeitis provides straightforward information to address all of these areas, using language that resonates with young people.
Recent studies by the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) found that the average age of first sexual contact is 15 years old or younger.
This early onset of sexual activity indicates that it is important to ensure that all young people have information about contraception and disease prevention before they begin any sexual activity, and not simply in their final years of schooling.
Developed, written and designed in consultation with young people, likeitis provides teenagers with access to information on sex education and teenage life, covering areas ranging from puberty to contraception.
